October 15, 2016: Of Racing Cars and Jumping Water…

Admittedly there aren’t a lot of places at Disney World where you can just let a toddler run around wild and free, much less one that has such cool water features like this, but a combination of the right time of night coupled with so much going on elsewhere in the park for the Food & Wine Festival actually made the Jumping Fountains outside of the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot a surprisingly great place for Christopher to blow off some steam while we waited for Sara to finish breast pumping this evening…

I’d like to say that he was fascinated by the water magically jumping from one pad to another, back and forth until one of the older kids jumped in front of it and got themselves thoroughly soaked in a way that I hoped he didn’t catch onto for at least a few more years! But instead with his juice cup in one hand and a little Duplo car in the other, Christopher amused himself for I don’t even know how long just driving his car on the concrete barriers that circle each set of fountains, running around and around before moving on to the next and the next while I merely watched from nearby with amusement.

At one point he figured out that he could just barely reach his fingers into the water of the main fountain if he stood on his tippy toes and reached both of his arms across together … thankfully he never managed to drop his car into the fountain in the process!

Of course, eventually all good things must come to an end – in this case, when he started picking up each of the big rocks around the fountains, having to wait until one of us got to TWO before putting it back down again … and then almost immediately picking up a different one instead…

Still, it was probably a solid 45 minutes of playful fun before we got to the warning phase, and when you’ve got a toddler who desperately needs to blow off some steam so that his parents can enjoy a bit more food & wine in peace, in my book that still counts as a win. 😉
