August 2, 2016: CRAAAAAZY Bread!!!

on

I don’t think anyone would argue with me that Little Caesars was never really the best pizza, even long before they switched to the Hot-‘n’-Ready outlet model that they mostly do today, and yet I still have fond memories of going to birthday parties at the location in my hometown and even playing the occasional game of Street Fighter II when my parents had a few quarters to spare and the arcade machine actually happened to be working at the time…

That said, though their pizza is fairly generic, what’s always been awesome about Little Caesars is their crazy bread. 😯

I’m not sure if it’s quite as good now as it was back then … it’s still seems close, and they practically give the things away when you buy a ready-made pizza. What is it, $2 for 2 bags or something?! The big loss is that they no longer have the buckets of cheese sauce to dip ’em in – they’ve got a variety of flavored cups for you to pick from, but it’s not the same.

Anywho, the other day I saw this video on Facebook getting shared around about a super-simple recipe for making crazy bread at home, so tonight I made some and it was surprisingly really good! I was a bit skeptical that canned pizza dough would hit the same consistency that I remembered from traditional crazy bread, but it was pretty darned close. And easy … there’s literally barely anything to this recipe except:

  1. Roll out pizza dough and cut into strips; then cook ’em.
  2. Melt some butter and sprinkle in a little garlic salt.
  3. Brush the butter on the breadsticks and then smother ’em in parmesan cheese.

Now if only I could find my Street Fighter cart for the SNES that probably has about a 50/50 chance of actually working…
