May 6, 2017: Cleanliness is Next to Exhaustedness

Maybe four trips to Orlando in a week’s time wasn’t the brightest idea after all, as tonight I found myself staring down a messy house of epic proportions with only one night to clean before we’re back on the road again in the morning … and the wife had to work tonight, too.

😛

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly everything from laundry to dishes to toys all over the floor can pile up if you only let them slip for a couple of days, not to mention how incredibly overwhelming it can become if you dare to leave things sit for, say, an entire week because you’ve been traveling like crazy!

I tried to do a wee amount that barely looks like any impact at all tonight after finally getting all of the kids to bed hours after their allotted bedtimes, yet now instead of continuing to keep trucking along I just want to crawl into bed and dream the rest of this cluttered mess away. If I can get to my bed without stepping on anything along the way…

I seriously can’t tell you how much I would love to just hire a cleaning lady to come in and pick up after us, but I’m honestly not sure how much they actually deal with clutter as opposed to things like dusting and mopping and stuff like that. Plus, I’d feel extraordinarily guilty watching another person come behind me to clean up my perpetual messes, though I suppose if I had to weigh that guilt against the pain of stepping on random toys when I least expect it, that one might end up being a draw after all!

I like the feel of a nice clean and organized house, but I don’t know how to get there and I’m not sure how I would ever keep it there if I managed to arrive in the first place. 😯

Part of me would like to think that eventually these boys will get old enough to actually be able to help around the house with some of these messes … but the rest of me has a feeling that in turn, they’re all likely to begin contributing more messes of their own when that time comes, too…
